The Special Investigations Unit has been invoked, following a high-speed collision involving Northumberland OPP.

Authorities alleged that just after midnight Tuesday morning, officers were conducting speed enforcement on County Road 45 when they observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed.

Moments later, the vehicle was involved in a single-vehicle collision. The lone occupant of the vehicle sustained life-altering injuries and was transported to hospital.

The OPP says it is conducting its own investigation into the crash. County Road 45 between Roseneath Landing Road and Bowmanton Road is closed to accident reconstruction.
