Cobourg

The Town of Cobourg is looking forward to welcoming everyone to join in with their Canada Day fun, starting with that day's 11 a.m. parade down King Street, leaving from the Cobourg Public Library and travelling east to Victoria Park.

At the bandshell, members of council, the Concert Band of Cobourg and emcee York Bell-Smith will host official ceremonies, followed by entertainment between 1 and 10 p.m.

Nearby, in Rotary Harbourfront Park, there will be multicultural dancing and music around the pond.

The Waterfront Festival is on from June 28 through July 1, and you can take advantage of a free shuttle services that runs from the bus stops at Northumberland Mall and the Cobourg Community Centre. Shuttle hours are 9:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. (ending at 11 p.m. on Canada Day), and stops include the downtown terminal east of Church Street and the Cobourg Marina. As the festival is not a pet-friendly event, only service animals will be permitted to ride the shuttles.

The big finale is the annual fireworks display over the harbour at 10 p.m. Admission is free, and everyone is welcome.

Leading up to the holiday, the town has announced a number of road and parking-lot closures through July 2 in light of the upcoming Waterfront Festival. These include the Albert Street lot and the marina parking lot (except for boaters), as well as The Esplanade, Division Street south of Charles, Charles Street, Division Street at Albert, Queen Street at Church and at Division and McGill Street. A King Street closure is also planned for the Canada Day parade from William to D'Arcy, starting at 7 a.m. Please note that there is no overnight parking on King Street Monday, June 30 as well. Cars on King along the parade route on July 1 will be ticketed and towed.
