Cobourg woman charged with theft

A 27-year-old Cobourg woman is facing charges after a robbery at a local business Monday afternoon.

Police allege the woman attempted to steal merchandise from a store near Spring Street and King Street East, and bit a staff member who attempted to intervene.

The woman was arrested and charged with robbery with violence, resisting a peace officer, and failing to comply with a probation order.

She remains in custody pending a bail hearing.
