Northumberland County

In honour of National Public Works Week, Northumberland County is launching a county-wide contest that invites residents to get up close to one of its snowplow fleet and celebrate the vital work of Public Works staff.

Starting Monday, May 12, this snowplow will tour the county, making a stop in each of the seven member municipalities, spending the day – 8 a.m.. to 8 p.m. - in each one. It's the perfect opportunity to get a good look, and to snap a selfie to take part in the celebration.

Residents can upload their photos using the on-line form at Northumberland.ca/PWW. Each submission becomes an entry in a draw for the chance to win a Northumberland package for two – an exciting experience highlighting the best this region has to offer.

“This initiative is a great way to recognize the hard-working Public Works professionals that support our community year-round,” Director of Public Works Denise Marshall said in the announcement.

“It's also a fun way for residents to explore their area and connect with a key part of our municipal operations.”

The schedule goes like this:

May 12 – Jack Burger Sports Complex, 60 Highland Dr., Port Hope

May 13 – Baltimore Recreational Centre Arena, 23 Community Centre Rd., Baltimore

May 14 – Community Memorial Arena, 10766 County Rd. 2, Grafton

May 15 through 19 – Northumberland County headquarters, 555 Courthouse Rd., Cobourg

May 20 – Keeler Centre, 80 Division St., Colborne

May 21 – Codrington Community Centre, 2992 County Rd. 30, Brighton

May 22 – Sunny Life Recreation and Wellness Centre, 50 Seymour Quarry Rd., Campbellford

Winners will be drawn and contacted on May 30.
