Cobourg

A spring tradition continues in Cobourg on May 10, when the Community Services Division hosts an Open House at the town's greenhouse – at 501 Thompson St. – from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Parks Department Horticulturalist Rick Cromlish and his team will offer guided tours so you can learn how they seed and transplant the annuals and perennials that will soon brighten public flower beds and hanging baskets throughout the town.

It's a chance to see how thousands of annuals and perennials are grown and prepared for planting across Cobourg. There will also be photo albums that show past designs on the beloved floral clock in Victoria Park.

Complimentary coffee and refreshments will be offered, and Experience Cobourg will sponsor a barbecue lunch between 11 a.m. and 1 pm. And while supplies last, there will be a Mother's Day give-away. But please don't offer to buy the plants – they are for municipal gardens only, and not for sale.

It's a fun and educational outing for families and garden enthusiasts of all ages, as well as a behind-the-scenes look at one of the town's most colourful traditions. Everyone is welcome.
