Northumberland Paramedics invite county residents to tune in to the May 21 county council meeting, when, at 9:30 a.m., they will kick off the meeting with a mock emergency scenario.

This demonstration will involve a range of critical life-saving techniques and technology, including CPR, automated CPR, automated external defibrillation, transition to advanced defibrillation, pacing and other emergency-response skills.

The demonstration will showcase the capabilities of a new automated hands-free device that enhances traditional CPR delivery, allowing paramedics to perform high-quality CPR even in the most challenging and complex emergency situations (such as in confined spaces, during extrication and while being transported).

This demonstration is part of the county's Paramedic Services Week celebration, recognizing the essential role of paramedics in saving lives and contributing to community health and well-being.

Members of the public are invited to attend in person, upstairs in council chambers at the county building, 555 Courthouse Rd., Cobourg. A livestream of the meeting is also available at Northumberland,ca/Council for those who wish to tune in virtually, with a recording available following the meeting.
