Three people face DUI charges in Cobourg over the weekend

Three Cobourg people are facing impaired driving charges following incidents over the weekend.

Police allege officers stopped a woman travelling east on James Street West early Sunday due to a burnt out license plate light. Authorities claimed the driver smelled of alcohol and she failed a roadside screening.

On Saturday morning police stopped a vehicle on King Street West and Burnham Avenue alleging the 30-year old man failed to stop at a stop sign. That driver too apparently failed a breathalyzer.

At approximately 3 A.M. Saturday, police allege a vehicle travelling westbound on King Street with the driver appearing to use a cell phone. The vehicle crossed the center line and mounted the curb before coming to a stop. Officers suspected impaired driving and the driver apparently failed a roadside test.

All three drivers had their vehicles impounded and licenses suspended. They will appear in court at a later date.
