An Oshawa man is charged with impaired driving in what authorities claim he had a blood alcohol content of over three times the legal limit.

On Sunday just before 3 PM, a motorist called into Northumberland OPP that a grey Volkswagen sedan was travelling eastbound on Ganaraska Road in Port Hope and believed the driver to be impaired as the driver was swerving and unable to maintain their lane.

Police caught up to the vehicle on Oak Ridges Drive and observed similar driving patterns. OPP claim that once the vehicle was stopped, observed empty cans of alcohol scattered on the passenger side floor and the driver was displaying signs of impairment.

Troy Connors allegedly failed a roadside screen test. Once back at the Cobourg detachment, further testing resulted in Connors registering over three times the legal limit. Conners will appear in court in July.
