A 46-year-old Cobourg man is facing drug trafficking charges following a police investigation in Hamilton Township that began in May.

Police say they responded to Birch Road around 6:15PM on May 21 after a caller reported a suspicious vehicle that had been seen parked in the area earlier that day. Officers located a vehicle matching the description and conducted a stop. Police say the driver was wanted on an outstanding warrant and was taken into custody. A search of the driver reportedly yielded a quantity of cash, approximately 360 grams of suspected cocaine, and around 150 suspected opioid pills.

As a result of further investigation, OPP arrested the suspect this Thursday.

The man is charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, involving cocaine and opioids, and possession of property obtained by crime.

He was held in custody for a bail hearing.
