It's official – Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation galas are now a quarter-century tradition, with the 25th annual one announced this week.

The theme this year, appropriately, is A Silver Soiree – Celebrating 25 Years of Giving on Saturday, Nov. 8, at the Liuna Local 183 Lifelong Learning Centre.

“With a focus on celebrating the tradition that began in 2001 and the overwhelming community support since inception, this year's event will return to an in-person single-location format, but with a twist on the typical,” the announcement said.

Touted as an elevated cocktail reception, it invites guests to come together for an elegant social evening in support of NHH. Though this is a shift away from the traditional seated-meal format, many of the best-loved elements of the past will return for this silver-anniversary celebration.

Local physicians and long-time foundation supporters Dr. Kate Everdell and Dr. Emma Smith are chairing the event – “Well known not only for the care they offer their patients, but also for their involvement in bettering our community,” foundation Chief Executive Officer Rhonda Cunningham noted.

“We are honoured to have them serve as chairs for such a momentous occasion. We have a stellar cabinet of dedicated volunteers working alongside them and our foundation staff team to bring this celebration to life.”

This group includes silent-auction chair Therese Brennan-Hunt, decor co-chairs Gabrielle Eckhardt and Will Ryan, board chair of signature and third-party events Laura McCracken, volunteers chair Sue Morrow, sponsorship co-chair Trenholm Parker, catering and beverage co-chair Grace Rivers, raffle chair Rebecca Vaughan, and sponsorship co-chair Carly Wardle.

The annual Gala event – hosted most recently in a community-wide format Galalicious – is the most financially successful event organized by the NHH Foundation. Since its 2001 inception, it has raised more than $4.1-million to hepl fund priority medical equipment and technology to support the delivery of modern patient care at NHH.

With tickets set to go on sale Tuesday, Sept. 9 (at www.Foundation.ca), organizers are encouraging people to save the date and stand by for future announcements.
