Eight people charged in major drug bust

Five Cobourg people are facing drugs and weapons charges following police raids on homes in Cobourg, Port Hope and Bowmanville.

Officers from several police services executed three search warrants early Tuesday morning, allegedly seizing handguns, 390 grams of cocaine, opioid pills and $75,000 in cash.

41 charges were laid against eight people. Police estimate the street value of the drugs was $40,000.

Six of the eight charged were held for a bail hearing.
