Port Hope's Capitol Theatre announces its third annual Summer Season Rollout, a series of community events inspired by the upcoming season's productions.

April 21 to 26 this year will be the week with something for everyone, from family-friendly adventures to indulgent evenings of music, wrapping up with a gala celebration that includes a live auction, special surprises and a performance by the pride of Lakefield, Ont. - Royal Wood.

“Our season rollout events invite everyone in the community to get involved and get excited for an amazing summer of theatre ahead,” Artistic Director Rob Kempson said in the announcement.

“I don't know of any other theatre company that programs a week of accessible creative events like these to raise funds but also – most crucially – to celebrate our community partners, audience members and artists.

“We're going to have a lot of fun, and everyone is invited.”

April 21 – 1 to 4 p.m. - Alice In Wonderland's Magical Tea Party at the Capitol Theatre – This interactive family-friend event invites attendees to fall down the rabbit hole with a series of such Alice-themed activities as crafts, storytelling, music and more. April 22 – 6 to 9 p.m. - Sugar, Butter, Four: A Port Hope Pie Crawl at various locations, starting at the Capitol and ending at Ganaraska Brewing Company – Celebrate everything sweet with a twist on the classic pub crawl, with each stop featuring its own take on the pies that will define the Mainstage production of Waitress, culminating with a Pie Social at Ganaraska Brewing that includes pie throwing, pie-tacular games, a pie sale and entertainment by local talent Jeff Bigger. Sponsored by Ganaraska Brewing Company, this ties in with Waitress, June 13 to 29.

April 23 – 6 to 9 p.m. - Cocktails & Curlers at the Studio at Studio 100 – Enjoy some Southern comfort and conversation at a cocktail reception with complimentary Sweet Tea, Hors D'Oeuvres, Sample Spa Services, Hair Tutorials, '80s Glamour Shots and a very special treat served up “Shaken Not Stirred.” Tickets are $50. Sponsored by Studio 100 and Atelier on John, this event celebrates Steel Magnolias July 18 to Aug. 3.

April 24 – 6 to 9 p.m. - Hashbrowns & Harmonies at the Port Hope Diner – Enjoy live music from today's top Indigenous artists in an intimate setting while you enjoy breakfast for dinner. Tickets are $25. April 26 – 6 to 10 p.m. - Red Carpet Gala featuring Royal Wood at the Capitol – The entire theatre will be open for a cocktail reception celebrating the largest season ever, followed by a Royal Wood performance in the Rod Stewart and Masumi Suzuki Atmospheric Theatre, with a live auction and some special prizes as well.
